For plumbing businesses with people on the road
You quoted it. Someone else stood in their kitchen.
Your name is on the bakkie, but a different person does each job. After every call-out RateMate asks the customer how it went on WhatsApp, so a bad morning reaches you privately with a number to call, not the Google reviews page.
No app to download. No WhatsApp Business account needed. You stay in control of every send.

Sound familiar?
Three things the customer never phones you about.
Plumbing is bought in a hurry and remembered for years. The part you cannot see is how your person behaved once they were inside.
A 6am emergency call-out goes badly and nobody tells you.
One plumber’s jobs keep coming back as callbacks and you cannot prove it.
An anonymous one star review, and no way to tell which job it was.
Work that comes back
Nobody cancels in anger. They just stop booking.
Plumbing customers do not cancel, they just stop being yours. Two average jobs and the next emergency goes to whoever is top of the search results.
Because the same customer rates every visit, you are not reading one score. You are watching a line move.
How it works
It all happens in WhatsApp.
Not just for your customers. You run the whole thing from the same chat you are in all day. Forward the customer’s contact, tag the plumber who did the job, and check who needs a call back between call-outs.
Send a customer a rating request
Your newest ratings and comments
Unhappy customers to call back
Your walk-in rating code

You trigger every send, and every rated customer sees the same review invite.

The save
A five-minute call instead of a lost customer.
A low score reaches your phone with the customer’s number and the plumber who did the job, while there is still something to do about it. You call, you put it right, and the customer you would have lost quietly stays yours.

Who did the job
The customer never met you. They met whoever knocked.
Tag the plumber who did each job and every rating lands against the right person. The one whose jobs keep coming back shows up in a month, with numbers instead of a feeling.
A low score names the person who did the job, so the call you make is the right one. Your staff never see a league table: each person gets a private link to their own numbers, no rankings, no colleagues’ names.
Honest limit: a walk-in QR rating counts for the business, not a person. The scores that carry a name are the requests you send.
Every way a customer can answer
WhatsApp first. SMS and QR for everyone else.
Pricing
Less than one call-out fee a month.
A notification is one review request or one low-score alert. They share one monthly meter. On five plumbers at four jobs a day, Team is about R1.13 a job.
Busy month? Top up at R99 per 100 notifications. Low-score alerts always get through on Standard and Team, even past the cap. Cancel any time. See all plans, including Starter
FAQ
What plumbing owners ask us first.
Most of our work is once-off emergencies, not contracts.
Then the repeat is you being the number they save. A customer who rated you five stars in March is the one who phones you in September instead of searching for a plumber near them.
We work for managing agents. The tenant is not our client.
You choose which number goes on each request. Ask the tenant about the visit, ask the agent about the job, or both. The agent renewing you is the point either way.
Two plumbers on one job. Who gets the score?
Whoever you tag on the request, normally the lead on site. Honest limit: a walk-in QR rating counts for the business, not a person, so the named scores are the requests you send.
My guys will think I am spying on them.
They never see a league table. Each person gets a private link to their own numbers, no rankings and no colleagues’ names. It is for your Friday conversation, not the notice board.
What about bad reviews?
You hear about problems privately first, with a name and a number attached, in time to sort them out. Compare that to an anonymous Google review where you often cannot even tell which job it was. And to be clear about the other side: every rated customer gets the same Google review invite. RateMate never gates reviews by score.
Is this legal under POPIA?
Yes. Consent records, instant opt-outs and an audit trail are built in. POPIA without the paperwork.
