Reset your password
Updated 25 Oct 2026
If you can't remember your password, RateMate emails you a link that lets you choose a new one. You do not need to be signed in.
Before you start
You need access to the email address you sign in with. The link goes to that address and nowhere else.
Reset your password
- Go to the sign-in page and tap Forgot your password? under the Sign in button.
- Type the email address you sign in with.
- Tap Email me a reset link.
- Open the email titled "Reset your RateMate password" and tap Set a new password.
- Type your new password in the New password box. It must be at least 8 characters.
- Tap Set new password.
You will see "Password updated". Tap Sign in on that screen to sign in with your new password.
Good to know
- RateMate shows the same message whether or not an account exists for the address you typed. This stops strangers from checking who uses RateMate. If the address is yours and no email arrives, check your spam folder, then try again.
- The link works once and expires after 1 hour.
- If you ask for a second link, the first one stops working. Only the newest email's link is good.
- Resetting your password signs you out everywhere. That includes your phone, your computer and anyone else who was signed in as you. You sign in again with the new password.
- If you did not ask for the email, ignore it. Your password stays as it is.
Something not working?
If you see "This link has expired", the link was already used, it is older than 1 hour, or you asked for a newer one since. Tap Request a new link and start again.
If the email never arrives, the address you typed may not match the one on your account. Try the other email addresses you might have used to sign up. You can also email support@ratemate.co.za and we'll help.
Once you are back in, it is worth checking that your sign-in address is confirmed. See Verify your email.
