Find and filter your customers
Updated 25 Oct 2026
Tap Customers to see everyone you have added, imported, or who signed themselves up through your walk-in link.
Search
Type in the search box at the top. RateMate searches names, company names and phone numbers as you type. A number written as 082 123 4567 finds the same customer as +27 82 123 4567.
Filter with the chips
The chips under the heading each show a count. Tap one to narrow the list, and tap it again to clear it.
- All: everyone.
- WhatsApp: customers you can message. This means they have not opted out, and RateMate has not found that their number is off WhatsApp. Those are sent to by SMS instead.
- Walk-in: customers who added themselves by scanning your QR code or opening your walk-in link. See Your QR code and walk-in link and Walk-in ratings.
- Opted out: customers who asked you to stop contacting them.
A customer can be in two chips at once, for example a walk-in customer who is also on WhatsApp. Search and chips work together.
Sort and page size
On a computer, the Sort customers menu next to the search box offers Newest, Name and Most feedback. Phones show the newest first. At the bottom of the list you can show 25, 50 or 100 customers per page.
Read a customer's page
Tap a customer. Under Details you see:
- Phone: the number, in international format.
- Status: Contactable or Opted out.
- Channel: how you reach them. WhatsApp confirmed means a message reached their WhatsApp. Not yet confirmed means RateMate has not seen a delivery to their WhatsApp yet. Not reachable (WhatsApp) means their number is not on WhatsApp, so requests go by SMS. Walk-in (QR) means they added themselves, and this label wins over the others.
- Consent: how and when you got permission to contact them, such as "Confirmed by you" or "Customer signed up via your link". An opted-out customer shows Withdrawn.
- Customer since: the date they were added.
Below that, Feedback history lists their requests and ratings. Requests still waiting for a reply sit above it under Outstanding request. Tap a rated row to open the full feedback. See Request statuses explained and See a customer's history.
If a low score from this customer needs a call back, a red strip at the top says "Alert open". See Handle a low-score alert.
A customer marked Sample is your own test contact from setup, not a real customer.
Good to know
- Customers whose personal data was erased for POPIA no longer appear in the list. Their anonymous scores stay in your totals.
- The page also holds a POPIA audit trail of everything done with that customer's data, with a Download CSV link. See Handle a customer's data request.
