Find a customer on WhatsApp

For a customer you already have, you do not need their number. Type part of their name and RateMate finds them.

Find a customer

1. Type their name, their company or part of their number, for example Sipho.
2. RateMate lists the matches: "Found 3 customers. Tap the one you mean." Tap Customers, then pick one. The list shows up to 8, each with a number and company.
3. RateMate shows their name and "What would you like to do?" with 3 buttons: Send request, Get a link and Opt out.

You can also start from the menu. Tap Request feedback, then Existing customer. RateMate asks "Who's it for?" and you reply with a name, company or number. Tapping a match there goes straight to the confirm card in Send a request from WhatsApp.

If nothing matches, RateMate says no customers match what you typed. Try another name, or send a number and name to add them.

Send a request

Tap Send request. You get the same confirm card as for a number you type.

Get a personal rating link

Tap Get a link. RateMate replies with Sipho's personal rating link, which you can share however you like. It does not use a notification, so it works on Starter too. See Get a rating link without sending.

If that customer already has an open request, RateMate says its link is still live. If your subscription has lapsed, it says collecting is paused.

Opt a customer out

1. Tap Opt out.
2. RateMate asks "Opt Sipho (+27821234567) out of all messages from you?" Tap Yes, opt out, or Cancel.

RateMate stops all messages to them. Bringing them back later needs fresh consent recorded in the portal. See Opt a customer out or back in.

Good to know

• The search skips customers who have opted out, and your own setup test.
• A message with a menu or feedback word in it, such as "new" or "help", opens that instead of searching.
• A message with a phone number in it is read as a request to send, not a search.
