Plans and prices
Only owners can do thisUpdated 25 Oct 2026
RateMate has three paid plans. They differ in whether RateMate can send messages for you, and in how many it can send each month. Only owners see the billing screen.
The plans
| Starter | Standard | Team | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | R99 a month | R199 a month | R499 a month |
| Notifications a month | None | 250 | 1000 |
| Branded rating page, QR code and rating link | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Low scores show in your portal | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Send WhatsApp and SMS requests | No | Yes | Yes |
| Low-score alerts to your phone | No | Yes | Yes |
| Score for each staff member | No | No | Yes |
| Logins for your team | No | No | Yes |
Standard is the plan RateMate recommends. Starter is for a business that only collects ratings at the counter and never sends a request. Team includes everything in Standard.
New businesses start on a free trial that includes every feature. See Your free trial.
What counts as a notification
A notification is one message RateMate sends for you. Requests and alerts share one monthly allowance.
These use 1 notification:
- A feedback request sent to a customer by WhatsApp or SMS, from the portal or from WhatsApp.
- A low-score alert sent to your phone.
These use none:
- Walk-in ratings from your QR code or walk-in link.
- A private link you copy and send yourself.
- Replies to your WhatsApp commands.
- Your test message during setup.
- A low-score alert sent to you by email, or shown in the portal.
If a request fails to send at all, RateMate gives the notification back.
On Trial, Standard and Team, a low-score alert is never held back because you ran out. It is still sent to your phone, and your balance stops at 0. On Starter, phone alerts only come if you hold bonus notifications.
How the allowance works
Your monthly allowance resets when each renewal payment goes through. Notifications you did not use do not roll over. Extra notifications you buy as a top-up, and bonus notifications from referrals, never expire. RateMate spends your monthly allowance first, then those.
Standard and Team can buy more when they run low. See Buy extra notifications.
Good to know
- Starter cannot send requests or phone alerts, unless you hold bonus notifications, from referrals or banked top-ups.
- Can't send? See Why can't I send a request?.
- To switch plans, see Change or cancel your plan.
- You pay through PayFast. Each business has its own plan and balance.
